#2370  Boy's Dress & Jacket   c. 1860

Materials:
Royal blue corded cotton, black silk velvet, black and gold soutache braid, 16 brass buttons, bobbin lace, blue China silk lining (jacket), blue glazed cotton lining (dress), black cotton drawstring.

Provenance: This dress came from a prominent New York City family, the Vitzhume's.

Condition: Excellent. Two very faint small brown stains on bodice and some wear to lace collar; otherwise near perfect.

Measurements: Dress: Sh-Sh, 11.5"; Slv L, 4"; Chest, 27"; Hem C, 70". Jacket: Sh-Sh, 12"; L, 11.5"; Slv L, 11". Approx. size 4-6.

Comments: This little boys "best" dress and jacket would have been worn with boots, stockings and a skimmer hat. Details include box pleated skirt, pockets on jacket and skirt, small brass dome buttons and a drawstring neckline. Quality materials,  workmanship and remarkable condition makes this a very desirable 19th century child's ensemble.
