#1527  Man's Dress Shirt   c. 1850-1860

  United States

Materials:
Fine linen, cotton thread, mother of pearl buttons and china buttons.

Condition: Excellent. Top collar button missing, wear to cuff edges, split in back of collar..

Measurements: Sh-Sh, 23.5"; Slv L, 21.5"; L, 37"; Neck, 15".

Comments: This square cut man's shirt dates before the end of the Civil War. It looks as though someone deliberately put the small split in the center back base of the collar to increase the neck size (easily repaired). Exquisite handwork throughout, including the pin-tucked and open drawn-work shirt front.
