Materials: Wooden sole, leather vamp, metal nails.
Condition: Very Good. Leather vamp is
cracked around the edge.
Measurements: Width of sole, 3
5/8"; Length, 10 1/2"; Heel, 1 3/4".
Comments: This wooden-soled overshoe
would have been worn over another less sturdy shoe. The square toe and
straight soles date this to sometime during the 1830s. The somewhat crude
workmanship suggests these shoes may have belonged to a working class man.
If this is true, then these are a very rare pair of shoes.
