#2721  Gent's Linen Shirt, Mid 19th C.

American      $495.00

Materials:
 Fine white linen cloth.

Provenance: Belonged to Frederick Law Olmstead (1822-1903), America's most noted 19th C. landscape architect.

Label: Small "F O" monogram embroidered in brown cross stitch on lower right.

Condition: Very Good. There are some very small holes and small dark gray stains; these do not detract from the garment.

Measurements: Chest 55" across; 37.5" long; sleeve L 25".

Comments: Beautifully hand sewn formal linen shirt. Linen cloth is oyster white and has a silky hand. The knife-pleating on the bib front was smocked, so the pleats have "give". I have two identical Olmstead linen shirts; this one is in slightly better condition than its' twin.
