#2258   Limerick Lace Stole   c. 1900

  Ireland

Materials:
Ecru cotton net, cotton thread in two weights.

Condition: Perfect.

Measurements: 23.5" x 99.5".

Comments: Limerick lace was the most expensive of the Irish laces in the 19th century. The lacework on this stole is all hand embroidered onto the cotton net ground using a tambour stitch. Sprays of wild flowers cascade out of ribbons tied in bows. The bows, flower petals and leaves are delicately shaded by various needlerun fillings. A beautiful handmade lace summer stole!
