Comments: Blonde is a silk bobbin lace; it is sensuously soft. Blonde lace first became popular in France during the mid 18th century. France's most renowned center for making blonde was at Caen. Around 1870 machine made blonde replaced the finer handmade lace. This lace stole is handmade in one continuous piece. Many lace bobbins had to be used to produce such an intricate floral pattern. The lush floral design appears to float over the gauzy mesh background. Everything about this lace is superb: the design, the workmanship and the luxurious way it feels.
