#2246    Silk Negligee   c. 1930s

France

Materials:
Pink China silk, antique white Belgian lace.

Provenance: Negligee belonged to socialite Georgie Smith Young Ridgley Hebbard Wilkins. Georgie was born in San Francisco, c. 1906. She lived in Baltimore, New York City and Paris before moving to Beacon Hill, Boston where she lived for over 50 years until her death in 2001. Georgie bought her fine lingerie in Paris.

Label: Woven red on white: "Made in France".

Condition: Perfect.

Measurements: B, 36"; W, 34"; H, 44"; L, 60".

Comments: The China silk is as light as a feather on this dreamy negligee. Workmanship is perfect on this piece - handmade lace is used and the gown is entirely hand sewn.
