Materials: Chantilly bobbin lace hand made with stiffened silk
thread.
Condition: Very Good. There are two
3/4" areas of the net (toile) where the joining thread has unraveled (could
be repaired, yet as is, it is not very noticeable).
Measurements: Wd, 11.5"; L,
34".
Comments: In the the mid 19th
century women wore fall caps (also called fascinators) for formal indoor
occasions. This example of hand made Chantilly lace may have been a mourning
head dress.
