Materials: Skirt, bodice & petticoat. Cotton mull, ten
small Dorset buttons, four baleen stays, Valenciennes lace, cotton muslin bodice lining, metal hooks and eyes.
Condition: Excellent. The skirt
and petticoat are missing closures for waistbands; skirt has some light
yellowing on flounces. Bodice is not as bright white as skirt (needs
washing); few small holes in sleeves as well as some loose threads.
Measurements:
Bodice: Sh-Sh, 17.5;
B, 36"; W, 22"; Slv L, 19". Skirt: W, 25"; Front L,
42"; Back L, 63"; Hem C, 228".
Comments: This 1860s wedding dress
has a boned bodice with ruched sleeves, a trained skirt with graduated
flounces and a matching petticoat. Construction is mostly hand done. The
cotton mull is extremely soft to the touch. I believe this charming mid
19th C. wedding gown is American and from the northeast.
