Comments: The incredible workmanship and
design on this dress look similar to Poiret's work at this time (see
page 117 of Yvonne Delesandres book, Poiret). Possibly this is a copy by
a smaller house of the famous couturier's work. The high collared neck
which crosses over and buttons is very smart. The cuffs and hem are
decorated with triangles of hand done silk tambour work alternating with
beaded triangles. At the top of the shoulders and just below the dropped
waist line, the chiffon is hand smocked. An important addition to any
serious collection of 1920s clothing.
