#2231    Debutante Gown    c. 1955

Materials: Embroidered and appliquéd white nylon tulle, ivory rayon satin lining, 40 covered buttons, boned bodice, lead weights. Also included: original rayon satin crinoline.

Provenance: This gown was worn by Eve Hebbard to her Boston debutante ball in 1955. Eve lived in a five story brownstone on West Orchard Street in Beacon Hill. Eve's mother was socialite Georgie Smith Young Ridgley Hebbard Wilkins.

Label: Woven blue on white: "Dorothy Lord 11 Newbury Street  Boston."

Condition: Perfect.

Measurements:  Sh-Sh, 17"; B, 32"; W, 24"; Gown L, 60"; Hem C, 168".

Comments: If you ever dreamt about being a fairy princess, this is the dress you would wear! The skirt is three full layers of tulle with a rayon lining and a crinoline below that. The tulle and lace off the shoulder bodice is perfection.
