Comments: The handmade Battenburg lace
used to fashion this gown was made circa 1890-1910. In the 1930s someone
took the antique lace, perhaps from her mother's or grandmother's gown,
and made this stunning wedding gown in the bias cut 1930s style. The
short puffed sleeves are set in to the shoulder and lined with cotton
net. The only adornments to the Battenburg lace are the crochet buttons
that close the back. The lace itself is worked in an exquisite scrolling
pattern interspersed with flowers and vines, beautifully set off by the
cream silk charmeuse lining.
